| Causes of Hepatitis |
Hepatitis is caused by three different viruses. A, the most common is contracted through the intestinal tract. Hepatitis A is transmitted by food or water contaminated by human waste. Hepatitis B is contracted by bodily fluids such as blood, urine,& semen.Type b is common in drug users. Hepatitis is contracted through direct contact with blood. | ||||||||||||||||

Symptoms: Appetite loss, dark urine, fatigue, fever, chills, jaundice(the yellowing of eyes and skin), abdominal swelling and clay colored stool. Effects: Liver disease, or liver failure. -Cirrhosis: this is a chronic liver disease in which the liver is gradually broken down. -Fatty liver disease:normal liver tissue is replaced by fat. -Liver tumors:cancerous, in rare instances benign tumors may develop. | Prevention & Treatment |
There are now vaccinations for A, B, and C. Food handlers should wash their hand to prevent the spread of the viruses. Safe sex should be practiced to prevent spread of the viruses also. | ||||||||||||||||
